One Breath Institute Facilitator Training Review (2026)
One Breath Institute review. The GPBA-accredited online Introspective Breathwork training, its two-year business track, the hidden price, and our verdict.
One Breath Institute (OBI) is an online breathwork school founded in 2021 by Lisa McNett and Deborah (Debbie) Dickey. McNett created the school’s method, Introspective Breathwork® Therapy (IBT), after nearly two decades of supporting people through trauma, grief, and addiction in recovery programs, veteran communities, correctional settings, and private practice, according to the school. She also hosts the school’s podcast, One Breath Wisdom. Dickey worked in a youth prison, domestic violence shelters, and suicide crisis lines before training as a licensed massage therapist and a conscious connected breathwork facilitator. The anatomy teaching was created by an occupational therapist on the team.
IBT is a trauma-informed form of conscious connected breathing, combined with coaching, touch, dreamwork, and work with birth and generational trauma.
We think OBI’s training has genuine strengths: GPBA accreditation, a cohort model, founders with years of experience in addiction and trauma settings, and more business support than almost any school we have reviewed. But the price is hidden behind a call, the sales page makes claims that are plainly untrue, and the whole training is online.
How the Training Works
The training is delivered online in cohorts of fewer than 20 students, with a weekly two-hour live class on Zoom, weekly video and written content, live masterclasses, and required reading. It has four modules:
- Module 1, The Personal Journey (12 weeks): your own experience of IBT, covering intentions, sensing energy, altered states, recognizing trauma, language, relationships, embodiment, and chronic stress
- Module 2, Holding Safe Space: facilitating one-to-one IBT sessions, anatomy, physiology and kinesiology of breathing, trauma in the body, generational healing, the flow of a session, therapeutic touch, coaching skills, and subtle anatomy
- Module 3, Expand, Deepen, Connect: group facilitation, birth trauma and epigenetics, IBT for at-risk populations, addiction and recovery, coaching skills, and marketing and pricing
- Module 4, The Road to Practitioner: a further year of weekly coaching calls on finding a niche, creating courses and retreats, content, money beliefs, business foundations, and “Magnify Your Marketing with Astrology”
You are certified as a Breathwork Facilitator after Modules 1 to 3, about nine months, and as a Breathwork Practitioner after Module 4. Tuition also includes certification to run The Personal Law, a Rebirthing Breathwork workshop. There are no mandatory in-person components, but the school runs one or two optional student retreats a year, where you pay for travel, food, and lodging.
To join, you need prior breathwork experience and experience of group work, an application, and an interview. The FAQ mentions a practice requirement and encourages in-person sessions as part of it, but does not say how many sessions you need.
One Breath Institute Cost
The price is not published. The training page invites you to book a “connection call,” and we could not find the tuition on the school’s site or in its GPBA listing. As with other schools that hide their price, you cannot compare OBI with alternatives until you have spoken to the sales team. Ask for the full cost of both certification levels, any retreat costs, and the refund terms in writing. Our breathwork training cost breakdown covers the schools that publish their prices.
Accreditation
OBI says its training exceeds the 400-hour requirement of the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance (GPBA), and the school appears in the GPBA directory as accredited. That is the most meaningful accreditation in breathwork. See our accreditation guide.
We found no independent reviews of the training, only testimonials on the school’s site.
Things to Know
Some claims are simply wrong. The training page says OBI is “the only school that offers personal business development.” Many schools teach business, including several we have reviewed, such as ReWild Breathwork. It also claims to have created “the most comprehensive breathwork training program in the world.” Claims like these make the rest of the marketing harder to trust.
“Therapy” is in the name. Graduates become facilitators and practitioners, not therapists. Using the IBT name with clients can suggest a clinical service the training does not qualify you to provide.
The income promise is optimistic. The page says that “after just 9 months you’ll start earning an income.” That depends on you, your market, and your clients, not on the certificate.
Astrology in the business module. One Module 4 session is “Magnify Your Marketing with Astrology.” It sits oddly in a training that markets itself on trauma-informed professionalism.
Pros and Cons
What works well
- GPBA accredited - 400+ hours across facilitator and practitioner levels.
- Relevant founder experience - Addiction, corrections, crisis lines, and trauma settings.
- Long business support - A full year of coaching calls after certification.
- Small cohorts - Fewer than 20 students, with weekly live classes.
What doesn't
- Hidden price - Tuition only after a sales call.
- False marketing claims - "The only school" offering business development.
- Online only - No required in-person practice.
- Unstated practice requirement - The number of required sessions is not published.
One Breath Institute Market Comparisons
One Breath Institute vs. Clarity Breathwork
Clarity Breathwork also offers a GPBA-certified 400-hour path that can be done mostly online, with 30 required client sessions, from $4,085 for Levels 1 to 4. One Breath Institute vs. NeuroDynamic Breathwork
NeuroDynamic Breathwork runs a six-month, 330-hour live online training with practicums and a capped cohort, and also does not publish its total price. Choose NeuroDynamic for a non-directive approach in the Holotropic tradition. Choose OBI for a trauma and addiction focus and GPBA accreditation.

- Online learners - You want a GPBA-accredited path without travel.
Who Should Pass
- Price comparers - The tuition is not published.
- People who want hands-on practice - There is no required in-person training.
- Evidence-first buyers - See our functional breathing certifications.
One Breath Institute Verdict
One Breath Institute has more substance than its marketing suggests. It is GPBA-accredited, its founders have spent years in addiction, corrections, and crisis work, its cohorts are small, and its fourth module gives graduates a year of coaching as they build a practice. For an online-only training, that is a solid structure.
The marketing undercuts it. The price is hidden behind a call, the “only school” and “most comprehensive in the world” claims are not true, the method’s name includes “Therapy,” and the required number of practice sessions is not published.
Bottom line: Worth a call if you want an online, GPBA-accredited path with strong business support, especially for recovery and trauma work. Get the full price, the practice requirements, and the refund terms in writing first.
