NeuroDynamic Breathwork Facilitator Training Review (2026)
NeuroDynamic Breathwork facilitator training review. The 6-month live online program, its Holotropic roots, what we know about cost, and who it suits.
NeuroDynamic Breathwork is a breathwork method created by Michael Stone, founder of the NeuroDynamic Institute. According to the institute, Stone discovered breathwork in 2005, trained and certified as a Holotropic Breathwork facilitator, launched NeuroDynamic Breathwork in 2017, and created the facilitator training in 2020. Its online group sessions run several times a week, and the institute says participants have joined from more than 120 countries.
The method is close to its Holotropic roots: deep breathing with music to reach expanded states, with a non-directive facilitation style. The institute describes it as non-directive because “every person has an innate capacity for healing” and the facilitator’s job is to hold space rather than steer the experience. Several of the core teachers, including co-lead trainer Glenn Girlando, are long-time Holotropic facilitators.
In our assessment, this is one of the more substantial online facilitator trainings, with live teaching, practicums, a capped cohort, and a strong ethics component. The main drawback is that the total price is not published.
How the Training Works
The NeuroDynamic Breathwork Facilitator Training runs for six months and is described as a 330-hour program (older announcements say 350 hours). Its key features, according to the institute:
- Live online training sessions three Saturdays a month, mostly taught by the core team including Stone
- A maximum of 40 trainees per cohort
- A personal coach for each trainee
- Practicums during the training, combining online and in-person practice
- A third of classes dedicated to the trainee’s own inner work
- Ethics training based on Kylea Taylor’s Inner Ethics, including a guest session with Taylor
- An introduction to the business of breathwork
- Alumni support after graduation
Graduates are certified to facilitate NeuroDynamic Breathwork online and in person. The institute also publishes a detailed contraindications page for the method, which is a good sign: it covers conditions such as pregnancy and glaucoma and links to the underlying research.
The page does not state a specific number of supervised sessions required for certification. Practicums are built in, but ask how many sessions you will facilitate with feedback before you are certified.
NeuroDynamic Breathwork Cost
The total tuition is not published on the training page. The only figure given is “payment plans from $465/month,” along with partial scholarships each cohort. Without knowing how many payments the plan includes, we cannot calculate the total, and you will need to apply (the institute says without commitment) to find out.
This is a recurring frustration in breathwork training. A school can have good reasons to discuss price individually, especially if it offers scholarships, but buyers should be able to compare programs on price without an application. Get the full figure, including any payment plan premium, in writing.
Accreditation and Evidence
The training page does not claim accreditation from the GPBA or another outside body. The certificate’s value rests on the NeuroDynamic Institute and the training itself. See our accreditation guide.
The institute describes the method as “science-based” and shows figures from its own “2022 Neurodynamic Breathwork Online Research,” such as 47% of participants being more present in life. These appear to come from a survey of the institute’s own participants, not a controlled study, and should be read as participant feedback. We found no peer-reviewed research on NeuroDynamic Breathwork as a method. The wider research on high-ventilation breathwork is promising but early (see our research by method guide).
Community Feedback
We found no independent reviews of the facilitator training on Reddit or Trustpilot. Testimonials on the site come from graduates, including one who says they now run their own studio and mentor other facilitators. As always, ask to speak with recent graduates.
Pros and Cons
What works well
- Live teaching - Three Saturdays a month, mostly taught by the founder and core team.
- Small cohorts and coaching - Up to 40 trainees, each with a personal coach.
- Strong ethics component - Built on Kylea Taylor's Inner Ethics, with a guest session.
- Holotropic experience - Core teachers have decades in the Holotropic tradition.
What doesn't
- No published price - Only a monthly plan figure, so you cannot compare totals.
- No outside accreditation - None claimed on the training page.
- Survey presented as research - "Science-based" claims rest partly on the institute's own participant survey.
- Practice minimum unclear - Practicums are included, but no session count is stated.
NeuroDynamic Breathwork Market Comparisons
NeuroDynamic vs. Holotropic Breathwork
NeuroDynamic grew directly out of Holotropic Breathwork. Holotropic training takes two to three years, entirely in person, for $7,000 or more in tuition plus travel. NeuroDynamic delivers a similar non-directive, music-led approach in six months online. Choose Holotropic for the original, deepest, in-person training. Choose NeuroDynamic for the same lineage in a format you can do from home.
NeuroDynamic vs. Psychedelic Breath
Psychedelic Breath also uses long, music-driven breathing for altered states, costs €4,500 to €5,000 for about 100 hours, and charges a €22 monthly licence. NeuroDynamic is longer, live online, and more grounded in the Holotropic ethic of non-directive facilitation. Choose Psychedelic Breath for a European studio brand with a published price. Choose NeuroDynamic for more hours, more live teaching, and a non-directive approach.
NeuroDynamic vs. PAUSE Breathwork
PAUSE is a six-month online certification at $4,000 to $6,000, built around trauma-informed conscious connected breathing and its founder’s brand. NeuroDynamic matches the duration with more hours, live classes, and a Holotropic-style approach. Choose PAUSE for a published price range and a bigger brand. Choose NeuroDynamic for a non-directive, expanded-states approach and smaller cohorts.
Who This Is For
- Holotropic-curious practitioners - You are drawn to non-directive, music-led deep breathwork but cannot do years of in-person training.
- People who want live teaching - Regular live classes and a personal coach matter to you.
- Online facilitators - You plan to run sessions online as well as in person.
Who Should Pass
- Price-first comparers - The total cost is not published.
- People who need accreditation - No outside accreditation is claimed.
- Evidence-first professionals - See our functional breathing certifications.
NeuroDynamic Breathwork Verdict
NeuroDynamic Breathwork offers something the field needs: a Holotropic-style, non-directive training that people can do online, taught live by experienced facilitators, with practicums, personal coaching, and a serious ethics component. The contraindications page is more thorough than most schools provide.
The gaps are transparency and verification. The total price is not published, no outside accreditation is claimed, and the “science-based” framing leans on an internal participant survey. None of these is a dealbreaker, but each is something you should resolve before you apply.
Bottom line: A strong option for people drawn to the Holotropic approach who want a live online training. Ask for the full price, the payment plan length, and the number of supervised practice sessions before you commit.
