Cheapest Breathwork Certifications Worth Getting (2026)
The cheapest credible breathwork certifications in 2026, from $249 to about $2,000, what each one actually teaches, and what you give up at the low end.
You can get a breathwork certificate for a few hundred dollars. Whether it is worth anything depends on what you want to do with it. A cheap course can be a smart add-on for a yoga teacher or coach. It is rarely enough to run standalone breathwork sessions with strangers, especially the intense, connected-breathing kind.
The short answer: the cheapest credible certifications we know of are ReWild’s trauma-aware functional certification ($497) for general breathwork, Oxygen Advantage Level 1 (€449) for functional and sports breathing, and HeartMath’s clinical certification ($249) for licensed health professionals. If you want real supervised practice without paying thousands, BBTRS’s online certification (about $1,890) and Liquid Breathwork’s online cohort ($1,497) are the best value we have found.

Cheapest by What You Actually Need
If you want a general breathwork credential: ReWild ($497)
ReWild’s Trauma-Aware Functional Breathwork Facilitator Certification is the cheapest program we would call a credible starting point. It is self-paced, has 10 modules covering breath physiology, nervous system regulation, pattern assessment, session design, and safety and ethics, and most people finish in four to six weeks. It is accredited by IPHM, which helps with insurance. The limit is that it is a functional breathing course with no supervised practice, so it prepares you to teach breathing skills, not to run emotional-release sessions. ReWild’s separate 200-hour practitioner training is the step up.
If you want functional or sports breathing: Oxygen Advantage (€449)
Oxygen Advantage’s Level 1 Functional Breathing Instructor certification costs €449 (about $520 or £385) and covers nasal breathing, CO2 tolerance, and the BOLT assessment in about 55 hours. It has no annual fee and no subscription. The Advanced Instructor bundle is €995. It is built on the Buteyko method, which has real research behind it for asthma, and it is the most practical cheap option for personal trainers, physiotherapists, and coaches. It does not cover conscious connected or emotional-release breathwork at all.
For health professionals working with breathing disorders, Buteyko certifications start even lower, around $290 for the BBEA’s Level 1 online course.
If you are a licensed health professional: HeartMath ($249)
HeartMath’s clinical certification is $249 (or $399 with its sensor) for a 20-hour, self-paced course in HRV coherence techniques, with an exam. It is aimed at licensed and certified health professionals and builds on one of the better-evidenced areas of breathing research. It is a self-regulation tool to add to clinical work, not a breathwork facilitator training.
If you are in the UK and want a formal award: Bedfordshire (£675 + VAT)
The Bedfordshire Centre for Therapeutic Studies runs a CPCAB Level 3 Award in Breathwork Coaching over four months, with self-paced study, live Zoom workshops, and supervision groups, for £675 plus VAT. It is one of the few cheap options with a formal awarding body behind it. We could not confirm whether this specific award is on the Ofqual register, so ask the provider if that matters to you. See our UK training guide.
If you want real supervised practice on a budget: BBTRS or Liquid Breathwork
This is where the cheapest price and the best value part ways. If you want to facilitate sessions for paying clients, the most important thing a training can give you is practice with feedback. Two programs offer a lot of it for under $2,000:
- BBTRS online certification (about $1,890): requires 35 documented practice sessions with mentor feedback, seven session exchanges, and case studies. That works out to roughly $54 per supervised session, which is excellent value. The catch is that it certifies you for online sessions only; in-person work needs the longer advanced path.
- Liquid Breathwork ($1,497 online, $1,997 to $2,497 in person): small cohorts (6 in person, 15 online) taught by the founders, with live practice. It does not publish a minimum number of supervised sessions and states openly that it has no third-party accreditation.
If you want the cheapest deep training: AIR School of Breathwork (from ~£3,100)
Not cheap in absolute terms, but the AIR School’s online route is the lowest-cost 400-hour, GPBA-aligned training we have found, at about £3,100 (roughly $4,100) for a two-year diploma that requires 30 paid client sessions. If you are sure breathwork is your career, it is better value per hour than most mid-priced programs.
What You Give Up at the Low End
Cheap certifications cut costs in predictable places:
- Supervised practice. Most programs under $1,000 are self-paced video courses. You learn the theory but do not guide real people with someone watching.
- Live teaching. Self-paced means no one answers your questions in real time or corrects your facilitation.
- Depth on safety. Screening, contraindications, and what to do when a session goes wrong get less time in short courses.
- Scope. Functional breathing certifications like Oxygen Advantage and Buteyko do not cover emotional-release or altered-state breathwork, which is what many people picture when they think of a breathwork session.
None of that makes a cheap certification worthless. It makes it the right tool for some jobs and the wrong tool for others. Adding breathing practices to yoga classes, coaching sessions, or personal training is a good use of a $500 course. Running 90-minute connected-breathing sessions for anxious clients is not.
Cheap Prices That Are Not What They Seem
Watch for low entry prices that lead to bigger bills:
- Entry tiers with upsells. SOMA Breath starts around $999, but the full Master Facilitator training runs $2,999 to $4,999, and the program promotes higher tiers and memberships throughout.
- Ongoing fees. A program with a modest upfront price can cost more over five years than an expensive one with no fees. 9D Breathwork charges $200 a month after certification. Our annual fees guide compares this across programs.
- Level 1 that is not a certification. Several schools sell an affordable first level that is personal development only. Clarity Breathwork’s Level 1 costs $395 to $595, but full certification needs Levels 1 to 5 plus private sessions and supervision.
- Hidden prices. If a program will not tell you the total before a sales call, assume it is not the cheap option.
How to Pay Less for a Good Training
- Pay upfront when there is a discount. Integrative Breath takes 10% off for paying in full, and payment plans often cost more in total (Transformational Breath’s online courses work out about 10% more on a payment plan).
- Book early. Early-bird prices are common: Clarity, Liquid Breathwork, BBTRS, and Max Strom’s training all offer them.
- Ask about scholarships. Integrative Breath, NeuroDynamic Breathwork, BBTRS, and AIR all mention scholarships, bursaries, or financial support.
- Choose online. Online routes save travel and lodging, which can match the tuition for residential trainings.
- Start small, then go deep. A $500 foundation course is a sensible way to test whether you enjoy teaching breathwork before you commit thousands to a long training.
