AIR School of Breathwork Review: Rebirthing Diploma (2026)
AIR School of Breathwork review. A 400-hour, two-year Rebirthing diploma for £3,100 to £5,550, GPBA recognition, and 30 paid client sessions.
The AIR School of Breathwork trains Rebirthing Breathworkers through a two-year diploma that runs online and at residential venues in Devon and South West France. Doug Sawyer and Brigitte Martin Powell founded it in 2010. Sawyer trained in Rebirthing in 1984 and has practised since 1986. Martin Powell trained in 1995 and is a former president of the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF). The school has since passed to two new directors, Kerry Veitch and Jacqui Storm, with the founders still teaching on residential modules.
We came across AIR while researching our Rebirthing Breathwork review, and it stood out for one reason: it publishes almost everything. Prices, module dates, hours, payment terms, the client-session requirement, even what insurance costs while you train. In a field where many schools hide the full figure behind a call, that alone puts it ahead.
The short version of our verdict: this is one of the better-value deep trainings in the UK if you want to work in the Rebirthing tradition. The curriculum still carries the tradition’s spiritual ideas (past lives, spiritual purification, manifestation), and you should be comfortable with that before you sign up.
How the Diploma Works
The diploma has four week-long training modules plus one module where you assist on a training. Each module is seven days, and residentials run from Friday evening to the following Friday morning. The school says the full training adds up to 400 hours over two years: 300 contact hours and 100 hours of assessed coursework. Groups are capped at 16 students, with two trainers on every module.
You can take each module online over Zoom or in person at a residential. The school encourages at least two in-person modules but does not require them. Residential venues include Dartmoor and Brimpts Farm in Devon, and Roquecor in South West France.
The four modules follow a life-stage structure:
- Sacred Breath covers birth and early years, your natural breathing pattern, the anatomy of breathing and dysfunctional breathing patterns, and what the school calls “perinatal, past life and ancestral influences.” It also introduces water work.
- Sacred Love covers childhood from birth to 12, relationships, self-worth, inner child and inner critic work, boundaries, breathing physiology, and client interviews and registration.
- Sacred Life covers adolescence and early adulthood, belief systems, communication, functional breathing physiology, and working online and with groups. It also includes “the Law of Manifestation.”
- Sacred Path covers purpose and shadow work, a trauma-informed approach to Rebirthing, the neurology of breathing, “techniques of spiritual purification,” and setting up your own practice.
Residentials also give you a first experience of warm and cold water sessions, a traditional part of Rebirthing.
To graduate, you take three clients through ten paid Rebirthing sessions each, read set books, and complete case studies. That is 30 paid client sessions before you qualify. Very few trainings at this price build that much real client work into the requirements, and it is the strongest thing about the diploma. You leave with a small client base and a track record, not just a certificate.
There is also free monthly online group supervision, plus individual supervision at £50 an hour. People already qualified with another breathwork school can take an Advanced Pathway with one fewer training module.
Graduates are trained to run both one-to-one sessions and groups.
AIR School of Breathwork Cost
AIR lists its 2026 prices on the training page:
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Online module | £750 |
| Residential module (food and lodging included) | £1,300 |
| Assisting module | £400 online, £650 residential |
| Booking the full training | £300 off |
| Deposit | £150, non-refundable but transferable |
Using those prices, the full diploma costs about:
- £3,100 all online (four online modules plus an online assisting module, less the £300 discount)
- £4,200 to £4,450 mixed (two residential and two online modules, depending on how you assist)
- £5,550 all residential
That is roughly $4,100 to $7,400, or €3,600 to €6,400. The page gives a slightly different total in one of its own worked examples, so confirm the exact figure before you pay. Prices rise in 2027 to £800 online and £1,350 residential.
Payment for each module is due 21 days before it starts, and you can spread the balance over three payments or monthly installments. Two bursaries are offered each year. Insurance through the school’s provider costs £25 a year while you train and about £65 a year after you graduate, which is cheap by any standard (see our breathwork insurance guide).
Travel to Devon or France is on top for the residentials. The school does not publish a refund policy on the pages we read, so ask about it in writing.
Accreditation
AIR says its diploma meets the requirements of the British Rebirth Society and the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance (GPBA), and that it was one of the first schools accredited by the GPBA, in 2013. It is a professional member of the IBF and of Breathwork UK. That is a solid set of credentials for this field. None of them is a licence or a clinical qualification, and our accreditation guide explains what each one means.
What We Would Like to See
Two things are missing from the published material. The training pages we read do not mention contraindications or health screening, which matter for a high-ventilation practice. The school may well teach them, but we could not confirm it. And as with every Rebirthing school, some of the curriculum rests on ideas with no evidence behind them: past-life influences, birth memory, and manifestation. The physiology and trauma-informed content sits alongside these, not in place of them.
We also found no independent reviews of AIR on Reddit, Trustpilot, or similar sites. The school runs a practitioner directory, so you can contact graduates directly.
Pros and Cons
What works well
- Full price transparency - Module prices, deposits, payment terms, and insurance costs are all published.
- 30 paid client sessions - You graduate with real client experience and the start of a practice.
- Small groups, two trainers - A cap of 16 students per module with two trainers on each.
- Flexible format - Every module can be taken online, so travel is optional.
What doesn't
- Spiritual curriculum - Past lives, spiritual purification, and manifestation are part of the core modules.
- Two-year commitment - Much longer than most certifications, which suits some people and not others.
- Screening not described - The training pages do not mention contraindications or health screening.
- Low profile - Little independent feedback and a small brand outside Rebirthing circles.
AIR School of Breathwork Market Comparisons
AIR vs. Breathing Journeys
Breathing Journeys also runs a 400-hour, GPBA-accredited training in the UK, with residential modules in Perthshire for £4,497 over about nine months. The hours and accreditation match. AIR takes twice as long, costs less if you go online, and requires 30 paid client sessions. Breathing Journeys is faster and fully residential. Choose Breathing Journeys if you want to finish within a year in immersive blocks. Choose AIR if you want the Rebirthing lineage, more client practice, or an online option.
AIR vs. Alchemy of Breath
Alchemy of Breath grew out of the same conscious connected breathing tradition and costs $5,800 to $6,900 for 400+ hours over four to eight months, with residential training in Tuscany. Alchemy is the bigger, better-known school and gets you qualified faster. AIR is cheaper, slower, and asks for more real client work. Choose Alchemy for a stronger brand and a shorter path. Choose AIR for a lower price and a longer apprenticeship.
AIR vs. Rebirthing Breathwork International
Rebirthing Breathwork International is the US organization carrying on Leonard Orr’s own teaching, with a four-level path run as retreats. It does not publish its tuition. AIR is more structured, more transparent, and GPBA-aligned. Choose RBI if a direct link to Orr’s teaching matters most to you. Choose AIR if you want clear prices and a diploma with outside recognition.
Who This Is For
- UK and European students - You want a Rebirthing training you can do from home, with optional residentials nearby.
- People who want client practice - The 30-session requirement builds your first practice for you.
- Spiritually open practitioners - The tradition's spiritual content appeals to you rather than putting you off.
Who Should Pass
- Evidence-first professionals - Past lives and manifestation sit in the core modules. Look at functional breathing certifications instead.
- People in a hurry - Two years is a long time if you want to start teaching soon.
- Brand-first buyers - AIR is respected in Rebirthing circles but little known outside them.
AIR School of Breathwork Verdict
AIR is what a well-run small breathwork school looks like. It tells you what everything costs, keeps groups small, puts two trainers in every room, and makes you work with real paying clients before you graduate. At around £3,100 for the online route, it is one of the best-value 400-hour trainings in the UK.
It is also a Rebirthing school in full. Birth, past lives, spiritual purification, and manifestation are in the modules alongside physiology and trauma-informed practice. If that combination suits you, AIR is an easy recommendation. If it does not, the transparency and structure will not make up for it.
Bottom line: A transparent, well-structured Rebirthing diploma with more client practice than most, best for spiritually open UK and European students willing to commit two years. Ask about screening, contraindications, and refunds before you book.
