London
London has the widest choice of in-person training in the UK.
The Mindful Soul runs a 400-hour, GPBA-accredited, trauma-informed certification that pairs online modules with in-person days in the city. The GPBA accreditation and trauma-informed framing make it a solid choice if you want to work therapeutically and want a recognized credential behind you.
Breathing Tree offers a 400-hour, 10-month somatic training with guest teachers covering neuroscience, trauma, and bodywork. The breadth of teachers is the draw, so it suits people who want a body-centered approach and exposure to more than one voice.
Evolve Breath Body runs a 12-month therapeutic practitioner training out of Fulham for £3,750, capped at 10 participants. The small cohort is the point: you get real feedback on your facilitation rather than sitting in a large online group.
Manchester
Breathworks is the main UK-native program with international reach, based in Manchester and grounded in mindfulness-based stress reduction. Stage 1 (around £1,323, roughly six months) leads to a facilitator certification, and Stage 2 goes deeper over twelve or more months. The evidence-based, mindfulness framing makes it a strong fit for healthcare, corporate wellness, and therapeutic settings, less so if you want to lead ceremonial or emotional-release work. Scotland
Breathing Journeys runs a 400-hour, GPBA-accredited program with residential modules in Perthshire (£4,497, around nine months). The residential setting is the appeal if you want to train away from the city and go deep in immersive blocks. Edinburgh and Glasgow also have active facilitator communities, so finding local sessions to practise in is not hard.
Lower-Cost and Online Options
If the flagship programs are more than you need, three cheaper routes stand out. The Bedfordshire Centre for Therapeutic Studies runs a CPCAB-certified Level 3 Award in Breathwork Coaching for around £690 over four months, the most affordable credible entry point on this list. Josh Connolly, one of the UK’s better-known breathwork advocates, offers a fully online self-paced training for £1,800. And Breath and Ice runs a six-month hybrid program from rural Dorset for £2,100.
Accreditation, Insurance and Cost
There is no government licence for breathwork in the UK, so credibility comes from voluntary accreditation (GPBA, IPHM, IBF, and the FHT) and proof of training. Insurance is cheap, from around £47 a year, and most venues ask for proof before you teach. A UK certification generally costs between about £700 and £4,500. Our breathwork insurance guide and training cost guide cover the detail. International online options like SOMA Breath and the Irish-founded Oxygen Advantage are also popular with UK facilitators.
