Breathwork Coach Certification: Programs and Costs (2026)
Breathwork and breathing coach certifications compared: what the coach title means, which programs use it, what they cost, and how to start working.
A breathwork coach works with clients one-to-one or in small groups on a practical goal: handling stress, sleeping better, or breathing more efficiently in training and competition. Clients learn everyday breathing techniques in the session and then practice them on their own. A breathwork facilitator usually does something different: guiding longer sessions of conscious connected breathing that can bring up strong emotional and physical reactions.
Neither title is licensed or protected, and schools use both loosely. A few draw a clear line. Breathing Space, for example, certifies coaches to guide foundational breathing practices after 50 hours, and teaches conscious connected breathing and other high-ventilation techniques only in its 400-hour facilitator training.
So “coach” is not a separate profession with its own rules. The route into paid work is the same as for any breathwork role: a certificate that teaches you to work safely, insurance that names breathwork, and then your own practice or an add-on to work you already do.

Breathing Space: Breathwork Coach
The Breathing Space coach certification is the clearest example of a coach credential with a defined scope. It runs 50 hours, fully online and self-paced, on a suggested 12-week schedule with lifetime access to the core material. Nine months of the school’s membership are included for live support, masterclasses, and practice guiding others. When you finish, you are certified to guide foundational breathing practices with individuals and small groups.
It costs £500, or four payments of £125. A bursary code that anyone can use brings it to £400. The course is accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists and the CPD Group, and the hours count toward the school’s 400-hour facilitator training if you continue. See our full Breathing Space review.
YOGABODY: Breath Coach
Lucas Rockwood’s YOGABODY Breath Coach course runs live on Zoom for ten weekdays over two weeks, two hours a day, with same-day replays. Each day teaches one breathing technique, a lecture block (respiratory anatomy, breathing problems, breath testing, and client management), and a movement block on breathing for yoga, lifting, and recovery. The next cohort runs January 25 to February 5, 2027.
Tuition is listed at $1,000, and the course was discounted to $695 in October 2026. It counts as continuing education with Yoga Alliance (30 hours), ACE, and the ICF. YOGABODY says more than 2,000 people have certified.
Clean Health and The Breathe Room: Certified Breathwork Coach
Australian fitness educator Clean Health built this course with The Breathe Room for personal trainers, strength coaches, nutritionists, Pilates instructors, and health professionals. Level 1 certifies you to apply the techniques within your existing scope of practice in one-to-one work. It’s self-paced online and costs $497, or four payments of $149.
Clean Health lists it as a non-accredited course. CEU approval with NASM, AFAA, and AUSactive was listed as pending in October 2026.
Whole Health Project: Breath Coach Training
The Whole Health Project, run by two yoga teachers, sells a 25-hour breath coach course and a 10-hour trauma-aware facilitation course together for $429, or three payments of $157. Both are pre-recorded and self-paced. The hours count as CPD, as Yoga Alliance continuing education, and as NASM and AFAA CEUs. It teaches gentle, functional practices and when to refer a client on, not conscious connected breathing. See our full Whole Health Project review.
SOMA Breath: Transformational Coaching Certification
SOMA’s coaching tier costs $6,497. It includes the full 95-hour Instructor Certification plus a coaching curriculum: SOMA’s 21 Day Awakening Journey, one-to-one coaching, multi-day retreat programs, and 12 months of SOMA’s BIG membership, for 130 hours in total. It is the most expensive option here and the most tied to one brand. Our SOMA Breath review covers the levels and what students say about them.
Oxygen Advantage: Functional Breathing Instructor
Oxygen Advantage calls its graduates instructors, but the work is coaching: assessing how a client breathes, then retraining it for sport, sleep, or stress. Level 1 costs €449 for about 55 self-paced hours. The Advanced Instructor bundle costs €995 for about 100 hours plus live sessions with founder Patrick McKeown. There are no annual fees. See our Oxygen Advantage review for what each level covers.
What a Coach Certificate Lets You Do
A coach certificate trains you to teach breathing techniques to healthy adults within the scope your school sets. It doesn’t let you treat medical conditions. Asthma, breathing pattern disorders, and diagnosed anxiety belong with doctors and therapists, and Buteyko practitioners who work with asthma usually do so alongside medical care.
If you already work as a personal trainer, yoga teacher, or therapist, a coach certificate adds a skill inside your existing scope rather than creating a new one. For what different certificates allow, such as groups versus one-to-one or online sessions, see do you need a certification to teach breathwork.
From Certificate to Paid Work
The steps don’t change because the certificate says “coach”:
- Get a certificate whose scope matches the clients you want.
- Get insurance that names breathwork. If you plan to add breathwork to an existing fitness, yoga, or coaching policy, check that it covers it, because some policies only cover the modalities you listed.
- Find clients. Most breathwork coaches are self-employed. They see private clients, run classes at gyms and studios, and take corporate sessions. Our salary guide has typical rates for each, and how to start a breathwork business covers the setup.
Do You Need an ICF Credential?
Only if you want to work as a life or executive coach. The ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredits coach training and credentials coaches in that profession. A breathwork coach certificate doesn’t make you an ICF-credentialed coach, and you don’t need one to coach breathing. YOGABODY’s course counts as ICF continuing coach education, which helps if you already hold an ICF credential and want to add breathwork.
Which Coach Certification Fits You
- Personal trainers and strength coaches: Clean Health is built for you, and Oxygen Advantage goes deeper into functional breathing for sport.
- Yoga teachers: YOGABODY and the Whole Health Project both add Yoga Alliance continuing education hours. Our guide to breathwork certification for yoga teachers lists the other courses that count.
- Beginners who may want to facilitate later: Breathing Space, since its coach hours count toward its 400-hour facilitator training.
- Coaches who want a ready-made system and community: SOMA Breath, if the price and the brand suit you.
If you want to lead conscious connected breathing or deeper emotional work, look at facilitator training instead. Our best breathwork certifications cover those, and performance breathwork training compares the sport-focused programs.
