Unity Breathwork Facilitator Training Review (2026)
Unity Breathwork review: the $5,900, 450-hour GPBA-certified facilitator training with an 8-day intensive in Sayulita, Mexico, and who it suits.
Unity Breathwork trains facilitators of conscious connected breathing through a year-long hybrid program: online lessons, live Zoom classes, and an 8-day in-person intensive in Sayulita, Mexico. Founder Megan Ashton leads it. She has facilitated breathwork for nearly nine years, holds certifications in clinical hypnotherapy, yoga, Reiki, and holistic nutrition, and worked with eight other breathwork training schools before starting Unity. The trauma and mental health modules are led largely by Ida-Marie, a licensed mental health and addictions therapist with more than 20 years of clinical experience.
The program is certified by the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance (GPBA). Cohorts are capped at 18, and the school asks you to apply rather than enroll directly.
Where we land: Unity is one of the more thorough trainings in its price range, with unusually serious trauma teaching and a founder who teaches every live session. Read the 450 hours with care, though. A large share is your own breathwork practice, reading, and writing rather than teaching or supervised facilitation.
How the Training Works
The training has two parts that run side by side over about a year.
- Home Exploration Unit: self-paced lessons, practice, and reflection. You can start it as soon as you enroll.
- Seminars Unit: about two dozen live, two-hour Zoom classes held every two weeks with your cohort, including breakout practice and mentor check-ins. The next unit starts in November 2026.
It ends with the 8-day in-person intensive in Sayulita, a coastal town near Puerto Vallarta. For the cohort starting in November 2026, the intensive is in November 2027. The school estimates four to six hours a week.
The curriculum covers holding conscious connected breathing sessions online and in person, one-to-one and in groups, along with contraindications and difficult reactions, breath physiology, functional breathing and pranayama, ethics, and music. The trauma teaching draws on Polyvagal Theory, parts work (IFS), and the window of tolerance. The intensive adds TRE, supportive touch, voice work, sound, and optional Reiki certification. There is also a substantial business and marketing segment.
Where the 450 Hours Go
Unity publishes an estimated breakdown, which more schools should do:
| Component | Estimated hours |
|---|---|
| Online seminar lessons | 90 to 110 |
| Personal connected breathwork journeys (30) with reflections | 80 |
| 8-day in-person intensive | 65 |
| Live Zoom classes | 50 |
| Facilitation practicums with guidance and feedback | 40 |
| Daily breathwork practice and journaling | 40 |
| Three books with written reflections | 40 |
| Independent study and assessments | 20 to 25 |
| Graduation project | 8 to 12 |
| Writing exercises and blogs | 10 |
About 115 hours are live teaching (Zoom classes plus the intensive), and 40 are guided facilitation practice. The founder says she reads and responds to every submission, including recordings of your practice sessions. That level of feedback is a real strength, but the 450-hour total is not comparable with programs that count only taught hours.
Unity Breathwork Cost
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Tuition | $5,900 |
| Tuition paid upfront | $5,310 (10% off) |
| Second year toward GPBA practitioner status (optional) | $400, or a free mentorship route |
Prices are from the training page in October 2026. Interest-free payment plans run from 2 to 18 months, and bursaries are available for lower incomes. Tuition doesn’t include lodging and meals for the 8-day intensive or your flights to Puerto Vallarta, so budget for those on top. We found no refund terms on the training page, so ask before you pay.
Accreditation
Unity is a GPBA-certified school. Graduates can be listed on the GPBA website as “ethically compliant breathworkers.” GPBA practitioner status requires two years of training, which is why Unity offers the optional second-year pathway. That is a GPBA rule, not a Unity quirk, and Unity explains it clearly. Our accreditation guide covers what the GPBA tiers mean.
Pros and Cons
What works well
- Serious trauma teaching - Led by a licensed therapist with 20+ years in practice.
- Small cohorts - Capped at 18, with the founder teaching every live session.
- Published prices - $5,900, payment plans up to 18 months, and a published hours breakdown.
- GPBA certified - With a clear, cheap route to practitioner status.
What doesn't
- Much of the 450 hours is self-practice - About 115 hours are live teaching.
- Travel to Mexico - Lodging, meals, and flights come on top of tuition.
- Long wait for the intensive - A November 2026 start means the in-person week is in November 2027.
- No refund terms published - Ask before you commit.
Unity Breathwork Market Comparisons
Unity Breathwork vs. Alchemy of Breath
Alchemy of Breath costs $7,200 for an eight-month online course that ends with a graduation week in Tuscany. Both teach conscious connected breathing with a residential finish. Choose Alchemy for its larger brand and its shadow-work focus. Choose Unity for a lower price, smaller cohorts, and stronger trauma teaching.
Unity Breathwork vs. Integrative Breath
Integrative Breath is also GPBA certified, with $4,000 tuition, about seven and a half months of training, and a 7-day retreat in Colorado. Choose Integrative Breath for a cheaper, shorter route with a US retreat. Choose Unity for a longer program with more trauma and business content.
Unity Breathwork vs. Clarity Breathwork
Clarity Breathwork offers a 400-hour GPBA practitioner path that is self-paced, at $4,085 for Levels 1 to 4 plus further certification costs. Choose Clarity for a self-paced path rooted in Rebirthing. Choose Unity for a structured cohort with live classes and a fixed timeline.
Who This Is For
- Future full-time facilitators - You want a year of structured training and a business segment.
- Therapists and coaches - You want breathwork training that takes trauma seriously.
- People who want a small group - Eighteen students with the founder teaching every class.
Who Should Pass
- People who can't travel - The 8-day intensive in Mexico is required. See our online certifications guide.
- Evidence-first practitioners - The spiritual and ceremonial framing runs throughout. Look at Oxygen Advantage.
- People in a hurry - Expect about a year from start to certification.
Unity Breathwork Verdict
Unity is a careful, well-structured training for people who want to facilitate conscious connected breathing professionally. The trauma teaching led by a licensed therapist, the capped cohorts, the founder’s direct feedback, and the published prices are all above average for this market.
The 450-hour figure needs context, since much of it is your own practice and reading. Budget for travel and lodging in Mexico, plan for a year-long commitment, and ask about refund terms before you pay.
Bottom line: A strong choice for future facilitators who want depth, trauma training, and a small cohort at a published price. Not the right choice if you can’t travel or need a shorter route.
